Unless specifically stated on the individual product page, our speed guns are not supplied with a calibration certificate.
Annual Calibration
Unless specifically stated on the individual product page, the speed guns sold by SpeedGuns are not supplied with calibration certificates and do not require routine annual calibration for their intended sports, recreational, coaching, educational, commercial, or general speed measurement applications.
These devices are designed for sports, coaching, recreational, educational, commercial, and general speed measurement applications, and under normal operating conditions do not require periodic recalibration to maintain their intended performance.
If a manufacturer recommends calibration at specific intervals, this information will be provided with the product documentation or on the product page.
Please note: Calibration requirements vary depending on the intended application of the device. Products intended for official law enforcement or evidential use may have different calibration and certification requirements from those designed for sports, coaching, recreational, or general speed measurement.
Certified Tuning Forks
Some speed measurement packages include a certified tuning fork or these can be purchased as a separate item.
A tuning fork is not a calibration certificate for the radar speed gun.
Instead, it is a precision reference device used to verify that the radar unit is operating correctly by simulating a known speed.
The certification applies only to the tuning fork itself and confirms that the tuning fork has been tested against a known standard.
Accuracy Verification
Most modern radar speed guns incorporate built-in electronic self-diagnostic systems that automatically perform internal checks each time the unit is powered on. These self-tests verify the operation of the radar circuitry, signal processing, display functions, and other critical electronic components before the unit is ready for use.
Where applicable, some models may also be supplied with a certified tuning fork, allowing the user to perform a functional accuracy verification by simulating a known speed. This provides additional confirmation that the radar is operating correctly.
For the majority of sports, recreational, coaching, educational, and commercial applications, these built-in electronic self-tests and functional verification procedures eliminate the need for routine laboratory calibration unless specifically recommended by the manufacturer.
